Black comedy and music come together to create my Left Right Foot the musical which tells the story of a local amateur dramatic society who attempt to win a one act play festival with a musical adaption of My Left Foot.
Written and directed by Birds of Paradise artistic director, Robert Softley Gale the play gives both a moving, funny and sometimes brutally honest account of actors or aspiring actors with disabilities are sometimes treated. Such moments include a scene involving Chris, played by Christopher Imbrosciano being told that he cannot appear in the play as he actually has a disability. Having been in this situation in the past myself as an actor These scenes really pulled at my heartstrings and although they were sometimes brutal they were pulled off effortlessly by the cast throughout.
The show also allows the cast of eight to show off their incredible comedic timing through Gale's hilarious script and also through extremely funny and catchy songs by Claire Mckenzie, Richard Thomas and Scott Gilmour.
If you can get to see this musical I really recommend going as you will be taken on an emotional roller-coaster as you witness a musical you will never forget.
