Breathtaking dance routines, classic songs and a heart-warming story become one in this London revival of 42nd Street
Set in 1933 the show opens as auditions for a new Broadway show, Pretty Lady are taking place. Immediately foll wing the first breathtaking dance number we meet Peggy Sawyer an unknown girl who comes to new York hoping to get into the show. Played by Clare Halse Peggy is a character who goes on an amazing emotional journey throughout the show as the audience see her grow and develop from a chorus girl into a Broadway Star. Such a journey is pulled off brilliantly by Halse throughout.
The show also has fantastic comedy scenes throughout shown throughout by such characters as Dorothy Brock, The lead of Pretty Lady played by Bonnie Langford. This role again is a brilliant way for Langford to show her fantastic comedic timing and also her incredible vocal ability shown throughout.
The Director of Pretty Lady, Julian Marsh, played by Tom Lister is someone who is determined to achieve success regardless of what happens along the way With this in mind Lister plays Marsh with a great sense of determination but also a great sense of wanting the show to be a success for everyone thus creating an incredibly moving performance.
Supported by an ensemble of fifty people full of electrifying dance routines and well known songs such as Lullaby of Broadway, Your getting to Be a habit with me and We're in the Money This is definatley a show which is not to be missed
